Refers to the kick drum(bass) and snare drum, which produces a sharp straight sound which is common in Funk music.
Popping dancers usually dance on music with steady beat backed by bass; generally creating pop/hit on bass-snare part of the music, thus the birth of the event named Kick&Snare
Session-Cypher-Battle. A dance competition dedicated to both seasoned and rookie dancers, where alternate volume is held for each group of dancers.

“POP” represents the fundamental technique for the popping dance. While, “9 (gao)” is a vulgar Cantonese word which literally means d*ck or cocky. Therefore the term POP9U translates as; POPPING in a cocky/dope way!
